I came into the real estate business after 25 years in retail, where I rose from a part-time clerk to a large store manager. After 12 years at management level, I craved a career departure. Seeking something more, searching for what I hoped would be my “calling”, I became involved with London’s McCormick Home. There I worked alongside elderly individuals suffering with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related illnesses. I found myself humbled by the emotional experience of working with people and their families through what was the hardest part of their entire lives.
While also giving my time to my husband’s own self-employed maintenance business, I was lured into the high-demand world of property management. This is where I learned to appreciate, understand and work very hard to fulfill the needs of those who are in an often intense struggle to find a home. I discovered that I was extremely adept and successful in this business.
I am a passionate and patient agent who puts trust and honesty above all else, in both life and business. Nothing makes me happier than guiding a first-time buyer into a new home. I do also respect those who are down-sizing: letting go of what has perhaps been a long and wonderful life in a home. While she was working full time, Tina had started her own business in print media and graphic designing whereby she had the opportunity to work closely with Real Estate agents. Mary-Lee has had a long career in the environmental awareness and education field, working in both public and private sectors for some of the largest organizations in the City of London. After more than 10 years in that role, marriage and two children, she needed a career change that would offer more flexibility and freedom to balance her personal and professional lives.
The key to longevity in Mary-Lee’s prior career was a combination of good communications, interpersonal skills, managing change effectively and a desire to sincerely help people.
